Taormina
Corso Umberto
Corso Umberto is the vibrant lifeline of Taormina, meandering river-like through the heart of the historic centre. It's a buzzing part of one of Sicily's most exciting towns, made even more approachable thanks to it being dedicated purely for pedestrian use.
Greek Theatre
The Greek Theatre of Taormina is the most fascinating historical monument in the pearl of the Ionian Sea, a world-famous tourist attraction, so much so that Johann Wolfgang Goethe wrote in his famous Italian Journey he wrote: “Never has the audience of a theatre seen a similar spectacle“.
Isola Bella
The island features a nature reserve, and visitors will be enchanted by its tiny pebble beach, luxuriant foliage, and beautiful sea grottos. Several bird species and native lizards can be found on the island and it is truly one of the most enchanting beach attractions in the Taormina area.
Villa Comunale
Created by Englishwoman Florence Trevelyan in the late 19th century, these stunningly sited public gardens offer breathtaking views of the coast and Mt Etna. They're a wonderful place to escape the crowds, with tropical plants and delicate flowers punctuated by whimsical follies.
Chiesa Madonna della Rocca
Built inside a grotto on Monte Tauro, this small church was founded by the abbot Francesco Raineri in around 1640. According to legend, the Virgin Mary and baby Jesus appeared to a young shepherd who had taken refuge in the grotto during a sudden storm.
Duomo di Taormina
The duomo of Taormina is dedicated to St. Nicholas, with its austere stone façade, the battlements crowning and the massive bell tower that make it resemble a fortress, stands in the charming Piazza del Duomo.
